Hello, I am Mia
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expat based in Berlin, Germany.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, higher expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, habits took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Pebble Fountain Hearth
Much of the information available online came from corporate relocation guides or shallow tourist content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice drawn from real-life experience in Germany.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Real-world experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A general travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Germany continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Mia
